Can whatever lonely person at NBC's marketing department that made this piece of fanfiction please apologize for his/her actions? It's not a good sign when a real life commercial for "The Office" looks just like the cheezy fanmade YouTube videos set to Lifehouse. Not to mention the intolerable "It started as an office secret..." text cards that make it look like a "Brokeback Mountain" parody trailer. And the fact that it makes Steve Carell's character look like a wise sage that Jim goes to for advice is perhaps the most dubious part.
The great thing about "The Office" - both versions - is that they can be incredibly funny and subversive yet still conjure genuine emotions and not feel cheap. Until that commercial. Jim and Pam (or "Jam" as those people would say) are great, sure, but I think all of us "Office" superfans could benefit from taking this handy quiz before season 3 starts on the 21st:
1) Are Jim and Pam real people?
a) Yes
b) No
RESULTS - If your answers were mostly "a," you should probably take a long hard look at all the places your life went wrong.
